The Alcampo supermarket in Motril will be collecting donations for abandoned animals between the 26th and the 1st of October.

The sort of items that they are looking for will be feed, hygiene products, and blankets for dogs and cats. Any items donated will be collected by animal refuge associations such as Amiko, Jarela, Help, Animales Abandonados de Carchuna and Athisa Medio Ambiente.

Alcampo, itself, will donate 1,100kg of foodstuffs to be shared out amongst the above mentioned associations.

On the 1st of October, the day the campaign finishes, Alcampo will hold El Desfile Solidario de Mascotas (Pet Parade) with an exhibition of dogs from the Unidad de Guías Caninos belonging to the Policía Nacional, as well as dogs belonging to Protección Civil. There will also be other activities.

Entrance and inscription for the event is free and will be held on the upper level of Alcampo’s parking area, explained Carlos Caruncho, who is the manager of Alcampo Motril.
