No Beach-Shower Restrictions

Both Motril and Almuñécar have decided that they won't close the beach showers on their beaches, as has been the case of Rincón de la Victoria.

ALM Barbero & Beach ShowerIn fact, two other Axarquía, seaside towns have followed suit with Rincón de La Victoria, namely Vélez-Málaga and Algarrobo.

It should be noted, however, that the Axarquía is in a much worse state, drought wise, than the Costa Tropical, owing to the little water that is left in the comarca’s reservoir, The Pantano de La Viñuela.

The Councillor for Playas in Motril, José Lemos, explained that Motril doesn’t have that problem and went on to underline how well they were doing this summer, given the number of beach goers and high temperatures.

As for Almuñécar, whilst they consider that the summer season is going very well, they do caution people to act responsibly with the town’s water resources.

Almuñécar, Motril and Salobreña as well as other towns along the Costa Tropical have enough drinking water without having to apply restrictions this summer. Agriculture, is another matter, as far as Almuñécar is concerned.
