This is just to keep you up to date with what's happening with the films in English.

Dear film lovers,

Sadly the films in Salobreña have finished although I am still working on a couple of options.

Nuria is not well and doesn’t want to continue showing them any more, economically they lost money when audiences were small. I have spoken to the cultural person in the Ayuntamiento. She said a licence to show the films is needed and they don’t really want to get involved in that.

I did point out that people came from many different locations to watch the films, many Spanish also came and that people often visited Salobreña’s bars and restaurants after the film so it was an important cultural event.

I will make another visit to the Ayuntamiento to check who owns the film machine, though she thought it was Nuria, and if we had the licence, could we continue to use the Auditorium. There’s a lot to find out!

I’m also checking in Almuñecar and in Motril but would prefer it to continue in Salobreña. I don’t want to make a more formal film club as it involves collecting and accounting for the money etc.
