Two British men were arrested in the Marina del Este when they were caught with nearly 2,000 kilos of hashish onboard their yacht.

The arrests took place on Monday afternoon, just after 14.00h as the 50 packages were being unloaded.

According to police sources, the drugs were eventually to be transported from there to different locations within Europe but in the meantime they were to be kept in a “secret storage” here on the Costa Tropical.

The arrested men were taken to police holding cells awaiting an appearance before a magistrate.

In the meantime, the Guardia Civil and Spanish Customs Police are investigating further with the information obtained, fruit of the arrests.
