Discoteca Mandala Beach in Mojácar was rammed (packed) with the dance floor crowded and above them, a young man on a swing. Shortly afterwards, he joined them.

It was around 03.30h, yesterday with the young man energetically spinning around above the dancers below him, when the swing structure gave way and he fell straight on top of several people just below him.

All hell broke loose and immediately the emergency number, 112, started receiving calls for medical assistance.

According to the call-centre controller, three people were attended to at the local medical centre; a 30-year-old man arrived in an ambulance and two young women arrived in a friend’s car.

However, people who were there spoke of more injured people than the three mentioned by 112, putting the number more like seven individuals. They were taken to the Hospital de La Inmaculada de Huércal-Overa, amongst them, the disco Tarzan.

Apparently, the discotheque owners are not answering press enquiries.
