That's not a piece of advice from The Seaside Gazette, by the way, but the titled of a billboard on the roadside of the A-356 where it goes through Vélez-Málaga
The message on the said billboard continues, “dare spend the summer how you had planned,” and below that, the name of a law firm.
The trouble is, whilst many think it is amusing… a good idea even, other’s feel offended and they’ve taken to Social Media to express their discontent along side those that think the message is fine.
The Colegio de Abogados de Málaga (bar association) says that it could represent a case of professional interloperism and even deceptive advertising, as well as infringing their ethical code. Consequently, they have been looking into what law firm is behind it. However, it does not figure in their data base of practicing lawyers belonging to their bar association.
It goes against the ethical code because it seems to incite conflict and law cases. In fact, the Chairman of the said bar association said that it was akin to telling motorists to go out and have an accident. Consequently, they are studying the idea of taking the owner of this billboard publicity to court.
Finally, Ernesto Ruiz, who is the manager of the said law firm, Ucho Abogados, doesn’t intend to respond to the bar associations’ complaints, explaining that they are a company that deals with fiscal advising, accounting with seven employs, two of whom are lawyers.
He does not consider that they have contravened the ethical code but does admit that the advertising campaign is original and effective… by which probably refers to all the free publicity on social media and in online news sources (such as ourselves).
