Saved by The Cat

Some say that a dog is your friend but you're cat is a fussy guest, but not so the case of Max, whose mewing literally saved his owner's life.

MOT Max The CatReaders will remember the article on a flat fire on Avenida de Salobreña in Motril a week ago, on the 6th floor of a building.

It was in the early hours of the 28th of last month when the fire broke out in the kitchen-diner area of the flat. Max’s owner, Emilia, was in the shower but turned off the water because the cat was constantly mewing outside the bathroom door.

When Emilia emerged from the bathroom the fire had already taken hold in the dining room and the flat was filling with smoke. She managed to fumble around until she found the front door, but in the meantime Max had taken refuge in the bathroom. It was the Policía Local that managed to rescue the cat after Emilia pleaded with them to rescue it.

When the police found the cat it was unconscious owing to smoke inhalation so Max was taken to the vet where he is recovering. However, like Emilia, he doesn’t have a home now; Emilia has moved into her friend’s flat until her home has been repaired but there is no room for Max because the friends has two dogs. Max is living on the balcony, away from the dogs, so Max really needs a temporary home until Emilia and her son can find somewhere else to live.

If you reckon you can lend a hand, giving 7-year-old Max a temporary home, then you can phone 631 016 051.
