Palacete de La Najarra

They have finally finished the restoration work on the main tourist office in Almuñécar, the Palacete de la Najarra.

Repair work on the main roof of the building (which also doubles as the offices of the Municpal Heritage Board) required specialist knowledge owing to both the age and style of the roof, so it was entrusted to a company specialised in restoring historic buildings, Hermanos Campano SL.

The Councillor for Tourism and Beaches, Daniel Barbero, pointed out that the roof had never had repairs carried out on it before and as it is a heritage building, leaks had to be sorted out before they could cause more damage.

Councillor Barbero, also pointed out that the bureacracy involved in carrying out alterations to heritage buildings is plentiful and drawn out, by way of explanation for the lengthy process culminating in completion of the task.

The budget for the restoration work was 47,345 euros, and consisted of repairing the four side of pyramid-shaped, multi-coloured, tiled roof, explained the municipal architect, Eduardo Zurita, who had supervised the work.
