Those Blue & Orange Lines

The new company that is running the Blue Zones in Almuñécar and La Herradura has been busily painting alternating blue & yellow lines.

ALM Blue Zones two toneThe Iberpark spokesman, Federico González, explained, “we are painting the seafront paseos blue and orange but the comercial areas in the town centre will remain painted only blue,” adding, “we have been setting up the new parking meters along the seafront paseos now that we have finished doing this in the comercial areas.”

From the 1st of July until the 31st of August Blue Zones will be activated along the seafront paseos.

The main reason for using a double colour on seafront paseos is so that drivers can distinguish between the two systems; when in the year they are active and during which times of the day.

The company, whose offices can be found at Avenida de Europa Nº26, controls 600 parking places in the town centre and almost 1,500 along the seafront paseos in Almuñécar and La Herradura.

Thank you David. Your information is most welcome.

    I even cheer up.

    Morning Patrick,

last time i was in Playa Granada was in May & they did not have any parking meters there then. I think the area by the Golf Club comes under the stewardship of ‘The Costas’ & providing you dint park on the beach you are okay. Anyway enjoy your beer or 2, i certainly do.

One more little thing David. I do realise where Almunecar and La Herradura areas are. So please read my first more carefully. Before casting aspersions on my character. Black as it is.!!
I do limit my alcohol consumption to Fri and sat. Not all pensioners are rich enough to go to a bar every day.
But will admit to the post kayak beer. A bit like post rugby or training beers.l

Thank you David. But I was asking specifically about the Playa Granada car parking. As I had not seen any parking meters in what I call the golf club car parking. I go there with my kayak. So can be out for a while. Don’t really want to get a ticket or car taken away. Yes your correct after a kayak I do have a beer as a reward.
So can anyone advise me . Machines for parking near the royal villa area. ??

David: I think (not sure) that Motril also uses the same company, Iberpark.

    Patrick,

You really must post before you have been down the pub at lunchtime.

La Herradura & Almunecar comes under Almunecar.

Playa Granada & the Poniente comes under Motril. Different Councils.

Info please.! Playa Granada . Up beyond the golf club bar. By Bon a bo beach bar. Past the never used Royal Villa. Near the blooming two new businesses that are being built and took up 30 odd parking spots. Do you pay for parking now and where do you pay. ??

I parked on the seafront last week and had no idea what the lines meant. There is no information for visitors.

  9. Michael says:

This will just cause confusion, firstly because they used orange not yellow lines which I’ve never seen anywhere before, and secondly people will not understand the significance. Perhaps the plan is to issue more fines?
The marking should have remained blue with the machines on active during the months of July and August.
