Motril's new building, which will house the Policía Local, is progressing and nearing completion, says the Mayor, Luisa García Chamorro.
She visited the building under construction, which has suffered delays owing to building-material shortages and of course, the road-transport strike.
She said that when she took office she made three pledges: increase police manpower, renew police vehicles and provide a new police station for the municipal police. She says that she had made good on all three.
She was accompanied by the the Chief of Police and the Councillor for Public Works, Nicolás Navarro, and the Councillor for Citizen Safety, Mª Ángeles Escámez.
The building, which has cost over 2-million euros, is now awaiting the furnishings and a few finishing touches.
Editorial comment: with the regional elections less than nine days away, no opportunity is lost to point out how wonderful a party is and how much they have achieved. It certainly is no coincidence that the Mayor took the opportunity at this moment to carry out a photo op in a building that is still not complete and could not be inaugurated even if it was, owing to electoral laws that prohibit them so close to elections.

So turn off main road . Come up to roundabout. Keeping to speed limit. Turn right for industrial estate.
Or just continue on main drag at 80km to roundabout at start of industrial estate and drive up.
Is it a waste of money. ??
When the roads to the port should be done first.
Patrick: not sure where the new cop-shop is – perhaps a suitable location like Mordor? Yes, the roadworks are for dual-lane connection with the Vadillo Industrial Estate.
Where is this new cop shop. Near the Taxation and Immigration offices. ??
As an aside. The road works going on to the right of the roundabout by the Social Services? Is it a link road to the industrial estate. Bring built forevermore. ??
