The Mayor of Salobreña, María Eugenia Rufino, has said that she can see no irregularity in the empradronamiento of Macarena Olona.

Sra. Olona, who is from Alicante, is the candidate for the far-right party, Vox, in the upcoming regional elections for Andalucía next month on the 19th of June.

“Empadronarse is not only a right, but also an obligation,” referring to the obligation that the Town Hall has to provide this service and that any other consideration lies outside her responsibility.

She concluded, “in any case, it’s the electoral supervisory board (Junta Electoral Central) who could act, if they think fit.”

Macarena Olona is the party Spokesperson in the national parliament but will have to resign that post to run in the Andalusian Elections.

The local branch of the left-wing/nationalist, Andaluces Levantaos coalition says that the owner of the house where Sra. Olona has registered as her domicile has admitted that the politician does not live there; i.e., she habitually resides elsewhere. For this reason the AL considers that it is an illegal manoeuvre to give this candidate residency within Andalucía in order to run in the regional elections.

Therefore, the AL want the Junta Electoral de Andalucía to investigate the matter once it has been clarified whether the her claim is bogus or not so that, in the case that it is, she can be disqualified from running and brought to trial for alleged official-document forgery.

According to Wikipedia, Sra. Olona is known for her virulent criticism of the government of Pedro Sánchez, accusing it of ‘genocide,’ over its handling of the pandemic. She favours the establishment of a government of ‘national salvation’ involving the army. She is opposed to laws on LGBT or gender violence.
