A Mugging Gone Wrong

We ran an article on the 19th entitled Dodgy Monday Start concerning a bus being held up - two arrests have since been made.

GRA Metropolitan Bus Nº5The Policía Nacional detained two young men aged 18 and 28, suspected of carrying out the hold up of a bus on the Route-Nº5 run.

Just prior to that, they had also held up a taxi, using on both occasions a pistol.

The police department, Atracos, had been staking out at night the northern district of the city, which is where the robberies had taken place. In the early hours of yesterday on  Calle Antón Calabrés the police officers found the two suspects, or better said, the suspects found them.

Incredibly, the two men attempted to hold up the officers, not realising that they were the police; they were plainclothes policemen sat in an unmarked police car.

The officers instead of producing wallets upon demand, produced police badges and regulation firearms. Such was their surprise that they were both cuffed in seconds. The officers also confiscated the pistol.

The assault on on the Nº5 bus was carried out by three individuals, so the police are still after the third accomplice.
