Almuñécar Town Hall will pay homage to medical workers by naming a street in La Herradura in their honour.
The street in question is in fact an avenue and it can be found in the Urbanización La Reserva which connects the whole estate to the Punta de la Mona (Calle Carretera de la Playa) road and the municipal cemetery.
The proposal will hopefully receive approval as a motion in the Plenary Meeting of the Town Council later today.
In fact, there is little chance of somebody voting against it as the homage includes all those that have died from Covid.
The document recognised the enormous sacrifice made by medical workers, putting their own lives at risk to treat others, and coping with endless hours on duty.
The actual name of the street will be the Avenida de las Profesiones Sanitarias and the act will be passed on to the Board of Health for the Junta, for their information.

Bit weird Almunecar naming a street in La Herradura. If they meant it, surely a street in Almunecar would be the thing. Whole thing has a taste of “you’re essential workers when we need you, but you can just bugger off into the background on minimum wage once everything appears to be under control again”. On the plus side, at least they’re being recognised a bit; and that isn’t universal.
“Calle Héroes de la Salud” sounds better to me. There must be a side-street somewhere in Almunecar that’s long enough for the sign.
