It seems that the Almuñécar Board of Tourism is keen on getting ideas from Benidorm as a model to follow, as representatives carried out a fact-finding trip.
The Councillor for Tourism, Daniel Barbero and the Chairman of the municipal Board of Tourism, Felipe Puertas, met with the Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, to learn more about the Smart Office
Benidorm leads other tourist destinations in Spain as the Destino Turístico Inteligente, explained Councillor Barbero, thanks to its “innovation, technology, accessibility, sustainability and management.”
Mayor Pérez put special emphasis on the technological advantage for managing the needs of residents and visitors, integrating them in an efficient and friendly city, said Councillor Barbero.
Apparently, Almuñécar has been working on developing along the lines of Destinos Turísticos Inteligentes and considers Benidom to be the Fountain of Wisdom to drink from.
After the meeting with the Mayor of Benidorm, they were invited to see the Smart Office on the fourth floor of the Town Hall. Basically, what it does is gather from multiple inputs all tourist data in the town, whilst at the same time juggling the municipal, tourist-orientated contracts with local companies, etc. It also analyses how tourists use the 40, free-wifi points around town, for example.
