The Paellera roundabout, as it is known locally, on the Avenida de Salobreña in Motril is now finished and normal, traffic flow restored.
It’s three metres high in the centre and is surrounded by an abundantly populated flowerbed… for the moment because some people have a habit of digging up newly planted flowers from public gardens and taking them home.
The Mayor, Luisa García Chamorro, was full of praise for the Councillor of Urban Planning, Antonio Escámez – the man who is more attached to a political post and its benefits than any party allegiance.
In fact the whole governing party considers that the new monument bestows dignity and beauty upon Motril thanks to the city shield mounted on high. Several fountain jets make up the water display, set off by led lights.
Editorial comment: now we just have to sit back and wait for a drunk to park on it or a moped-armed youth to attempt an Evil Knievel…
