A couple of days ago it was reported that a hairdresser within the Nevada Shopping Centre had been held up and 18,000 euros taken.

Anyway, since then the Guardia Civil have arrested an employee at the hairdresser’s as they suspect that she was in on it.

The reason that they began to suspect her participation in the hold up was there were inconsistencies in her police statement concerning what happened.

The Guardia Civil consider that she planned the robbery with the thief, whom they think is probably her boyfriend; a man with a police record who now has a warrant out on him.

The woman was arrested on Tuesday and released pending appearance before a judge.

The reason that the police were suspicious was that on the day of the robbery she had arranged it so that she would be alone – normally there are three people working there. She had told her colleagues that she could balance the till and was going to remain behind to sort it out. However, the till has a programme that automatically detects an imbalance in the total.

Secondly, after the hold up, she didn’t alert the private security belonging to the whole shopping centre to report the incident, but instead phoned the owners of the salon, which gave the robber time to get out of the centre.

In fact, the CCTV in the shopping centre picked up the thief going down in the escalator very calmly, evidently assured that nobody was following him.

The woman had been working at the salon since November 2016 and the man used to work in the shopping centre but that was some time ago.
