MOT American Staffordshire TerrierThis is what a 27-year-old man did in Motril and is subsequently being investigated by the Guardia Civil, suspected of an offence against flora, fauna and domestic animals (pets).

The man is the owner of an American Staffordshire Terrier, which decided that it didn’t like the look of a Yorkshire Terrier and chewed through it.

The owner of the slain mutt was walking with it in the vecinity of El Varadero when the American Stafforshire, which was not on its lead at the time, attacked his dog. The severity of its wounds provoked its death a couple of days later. The owner reported the incident to the Guardia Civil

Seprona (Guardia Civil)  looked into the incident and discovered that a man had phoned the Albergue Municipal de Animales (municipal animal shelter) to say that he had come across an abandoned dog and asked the animal shelter to take it in.

The people who run the shelter had heard about the attack and realised that the new ‘guest’ matched the description of the ‘aggressor.’ A quick scan with the microchip reader revealed that the ‘Samaritan’ that had brought him in was none other than the legal owner, who had hoped avoid responsibility for the attack.
