Following the lead of other municipalities along the Costa Tropical, Salobreña now has a Corazón Solidario; i.e. a heart-shaped, collection point.

These large containers are for people to deposit plastic bottle tops into, with the purpose of helping to generate funds for children with special needs, as well as helping the environment through plastic recycling.

The Councillor for Social Welfare, María José Sánchez, explained that the first container load will go in aid of a 4-year-old child, resident of Motril, who has special needs and that after this they will go towards other cases.

You can’t miss the heart-shaped basket container as it is situated in front of Colegio Federico Mayor Zaragoza, next to the taxi rank, more or less where the old Alsina, ticket office stood. it is an ideal locations as it is a busy area of town with lots of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

The container was installed by Fundación Ecoruycan in collaboration with Salobreña Town Hall.
