Motril Housing & New Hotel

According to the Councillor for Public Works, Nicolás Navarro, the Town Hall and the land owners (amongst them, Caja Rural, which owns the MOT-5) are already looking at plans on what to build and where.

Then there’s the MOT-6, which a development area near the municipal morgue on the outskirts of the town centre. There are plans to build urbanizaciones, although the numer of dwellings has not been quantified. Housing needs local services so it appears that Mercandona will setting up shop there.

The third area of expansion is the MOT-8, which is the area near the Parque de los Pueblos de América.

Landowners on this development area intend to build a hotel, which will be the first one in the city centre – the others are down in the Playa Granada/Playa de Poniente area: Playa Granada Golf Hotel (Robinson) and Elba.

The Councillor for Urban Development,Antonio Escámez, whose backing was essential for the PP to gain the mayoralty, but come with this post as the price tag, increased the amount of dwellings there from 400 to 600.

As for the hotel on the MOT-8, the plans are for one with 144 rooms belonging to a Granada-based hotel chain.

All this translates into a 25% increase in construction work in Motril (new-build licences issued)
