The new supermarket will be erected on the plot presently occupied by El Día, next to the bus station. The lease that El Día had was for 25 years and for whatever reason, the lease was not renewed.

ALDI began the process of obtaining the building licence in April with a In-depth Study for the plot, which measures 3,474 sq/m. The build will have a basement level fo 2,837 sq/m, a ground floor (where the shopping area  itself will be), with a surface area of 1,952 sq/m and a loading/unloading area of 1,521 sq/m.

The project has a budget of over two-million euros for the building itself and then another million for fitting it out.

If everything goes to plan, it should open its door next year, making it the second branch of this German supermarket chain on the Costa Tropical.
