A fire this morning in the area of Soportújar, fortunately has been brought under control thanks to the quick reaction of Infoca units.

The fire, which started in the municipality of Soportújar, spread over into that of Pampaneira, where fire-fighter units managed to stop it spreading further.

A Super Puma helicopter used for water bombing belonging to Infoca, as well as two other aircraft and 21 ground personnel and two fire trucks were deployed to combat the fire and stop it spreading.

The fire was reported at 11.20h in a forested area close to the Buddhist centre. However, no evacuation was necessary as the fire had not advanced towards any dwellings.

By 15.15h the fire was declared as controlado and fire-fighting units turned to putting out what was left of the fire.
