Fatal Aircraft Accident

One person was killed and another was seriously injured when their light aircraft crashed operating out of Vélez-Málaga airdrome.

AXA Bücker Light AircraftThe accident took place on Friday a little before 17.30h, which was when the emergency call centre, 112, received an alert to say that a light aircraft had come down in an avocado plantation next to this airdrome, in the Axarquía of Málaga.

Several witnesses had seen the plane, a Bücker (BÜ 131 Jungman), come down.

The call centre immediately mobilised an ambulance, fire service and the Guardia Civil, as well as the Policía Nacional. They also had to inform the Centro de Control de Tránsito Aéreo (ACC) and the Centro de Coordinación y Rescate (RCC).

It was the passenger who died in the crash but the pilot survived the impact and was rushed to the area hospital in the Axarquia.

The causes of the crash is under investigation.
