Some people are getting a bit touchy; this time it's a 71-year-old man who decided to threaten passersby in Motril with a starter gun.

He not only threatened them with the pistol, but in two cases tried to catch people and hang onto them.

The incident happened in the early morning of yesterday in the Posta area of Motril.

The police received a call through their particular emergency number, 092 and a patrol was sent out to arrest the man, who had grabbed two passing women by the arm whilst brandishing the 9mm starting pistol.

Upon seeing the officers from the Policía Local approach, the man fled, running down an adjacent street. He still had the gun in his hand, which caused a little consternation in the people that he passed.

He was finally run down (he was 71, don’t forget, so hardly a Usain Bolt) and he was disarmed and taken into custody.
