Drunk & Disorderly in Salobreña

The Salobreña Policía Local arrested a man who was not only drunk and disorderly but also attacked one of the officers, it seems.

SAL Calle GranadaThis happened yesterday night after a police patrol consisting of three officers came across a 36-year-old man on Calle Granada.

One of the officers reprimanded the man for drinking alcohol on a public street, but the response, far from remorse, was aggressive.

According to the police, the arrest took place at 22.30h after the man closed on one of the officers threatening to kill him and attempting to cause him injury whilst pouring half the content of the bottle of beer onto the victim’s uniform.

The officers took the arrested man to the Guardia Civil post where he was kept in custody awaiting a court appearance.

Editorial comment: it should be noted that, “I’m going to kill you” (te voy a matar) is a common expression, even used by mothers when a child has played up and done something wrong, therefore, it is a bit of a stretch, perhaps to accuse the man of threatening to kill the officer with any real intention of doing so. It’s more like, “I’m going to bloody well strangle you, when I get my hands on you,” in a British context.
