A Motril law court sentenced Almuñécar Town Hall to pay 350,000 euros to 14 Social-Service workers which was owed in arrears since 2015, plus compensation.
The Town Hall had appealled against this decision all the way up to the nation’s Supreme Court but the grounds for the appeal were rejected, therefore the original sentence stands and no further legal recourse is possible.
Originally, the appeal was made before the Regional Supreme Court in 2017, which reviewed the original sentence in 2017 and rejected the appeal but far from giving up and paying up, the Town Hall took it all the way to the top (no expense spared, evidently).
Editorial comment: the money owed was a specific bonus that should have been paid. Had the Town Hall coughed up there and then, they would have saved Almuñécar tax payers the expense of six years of legal action and compensation.
Of course, the Mayor won’t have to pay the money for her decision with her money and you can be pretty sure that the councillors have not missed any bonuses and perks available during these past six years, either.

“Animal Farm.” Should be on every young persons desk. Instead of a tablet or mobil.
Perhaps then the world will change.
Well maybe not.! Greed is the key.!
What a grand waste of scarce public money plus the morale and mental health costs for those workers
