The Mayor of Salobreña, María Eugenia Rufino, has described the news that the town has had zero cases in the last 14 days as "magnificent."

In other words the contagion rate for Salobreña joins the many small villages around the province with zero cases.

However, “having passed through the initial euphoria” upon hearing this news, the Mayor has called for people to remain cautious as the segment of the population under 12 have still not been vaccinated and kids are now back at school, meaning that they might not just bring their homework back with them…

“We know that the virus has come to stay so we must always keep in sight what this means,” she said, concluding by urging everybody to get vaccinated because the benefits of which are well proven.
