Eldery Worst Contagion Group

People over 80 belong to the population segment that is leading contagion figures, despite already having full vaccine coverage.

GRA Eldery Vaccinated Jabs FB21According to the data given by the Instituto de Estadística y Cartografía de Andalucía (IECA), the over 80’s are double in number the age group that follows them (20-29).

Put another way, the elderly have a contagion rate of 147.35 cases per 100,000 compared to those in their 20s, who have a 81.44 contagion rate per 100k.

OK, it is no surprise that the older you are, the weaker your body becomes to defend against disease and illnesses in general, but even so, the vaccination programme gave maximum priority to residents over 80.

Another point is that the vaccine won’t stop you catching Covid but rather it mitigates the severity of the symptoms.

However, this tendency might be that those vaccinated first are losing the high-percentage protection afforded by their vaccines. Experts are not sure whether this is the case.

The most curious thing, however, concerning Granada’s figures is that they are out of synch with both the Andalusian and national figures because it is the under 12-year olds that have the highest contagion rate, quite simply because they represent an age group that has still not be vaccinated – that might change soon with the commencement of the school year.
