The summer shuttle service that ferries beachgoers from the N-340 down to Playa Cantarriján carried a total of 33,845 people the summer season.
A breakdown reads: in June (starting on San Juan) the shuttles transported 3,285 people. During July there were 11,341 passengers and in August 15,527 passengers, leaving us with the first ten days of September with a further 3,692 beachgoers ferried between the road and the beach.
Originally, the period during which the shuttle service operated was from the 1st of July and the 31st of August in 2016, but with the arrival of many vehicles before and after these dates, this led to the Junta extending the exclusion from the beach for private vehicles to between 15th of June to the 10th of September.
There’s nothing to stop you parking your car in one of the parking areas on the N-340 and walking down – many people do, and then take the bus back up. The more enthusiastic walk both ways. There’s space for 75 vehicles in one area and 82 in another. There are also two parking spots for handicapped drivers.
