You were right in thinking that last weekend was very hot on the coast - it's always hot inland, but the coast usually fares better.

However, on Saturday, Rincón de la Victoria and Vélez-Málaga had the dubious honour of being the hottest places in the whole of Spain. This was in part due to the terral (very hot wind from inland blowing towards the coast)

Both of these town on the coast of La Axarquía (eastern Costa del Sol) reached 40 degrees towards the late afternoon. The other ‘hot spots’ were over in Murcia but they didn’t reach 40ºC.

The province of Málaga also had quite strong winds to deal with: Manilva 39 kph and the Airport 38 kph, just to make it more fun. In fact, Málaga was on Yellow Alert between 14.00h and 21.00h.

On a personal note, coming back on a bike from a gig in La Herradura at 23.30h, the temperature was still 28ºC, so imagine what it was like for our neighbours over in Málaga.
