Mayor Calls for Caution

The Mayor of Motril, Luisa María García Chamorro, has expressed her concern over the growing contagion figure in her municipality.

MOT Packed Beacher JL21The per-100,000 figure is just under 300, she pointed out, so she is calling for residents and visitors to “exercise a sense of collective responsibility in public spaces,”

She said that the town couldn’t allow things to slide back because she considers the contagion rate is presently “demoralising.”

Mayor García Chamorro points out that if the contagion rate reaches 500 per 100k it would mean a perimetre lockdown in the middle of summer.

“We have shown on many occasions that we are responsible people so for that reason I am calling for the utmost level of collaboration from the citizenry when it comes to the health norms regarding face masks,” she said, adding, “we are going to face a difficult situation, both in terms of health and in economic ones.”
