A French couple in a camper van were arrested by the Guardia Civil in Castell de Ferro accused of breaking into parked vehicles.
As said above, the couple were visiting in a camper van with French number plates, accompanied by two minors and, according to the Guardia Civil, were posing as tourists.
They had parked their camper on the roadside-parking across from Playa La Rijana and were waiting inside until nobody was about. They would reportedly then set about breaking into parked vehicles.
Again, according to the Guardia Civil, the woman kept watch whilst the man went about the task of forcing locks or breaking side windows.
Their first ‘deeds’ were back in February and then restarted again from May onwards. In fact, so frequent did the break-ins become that the police had to stake out the parking area. Finally, the Guardia Civil caught them red handed breaking into a parked car and promptly arrested and identified them.
Editorial comment: the Guardia Civil press release speaks of a “foreign couple” first and then goes on to say that the camper van was French but it is not clear if the couple were in fact French or rather another nationality. Just something to bear in mind.
