Almuñécar and La Herradura will hold the yearly tapa route from the 21st of May to the 5th of June.
Coordinated by the Asociación de Hosteleros del Valle Tropical, the winner of this gastronomic competition will be decided not only by a panel of judges, but also by the general public, with 70% by the former and 30% by the latter. In other words, you too can swing the vote of the grub boffins.
The Chairman of the said association, José Muñoz, explained that the judges panel will be made up of high-profile chefs from around the province and further afield in Andalucia. They will be accompanied by the event organiser, Jesús Bracero and by Councillor, Alberto Manuel García Gilabert.
Prior to the first day, competitors had to present their star tapas before the panel so that they could be included on the ‘passport;’ in other words a document that clients will take around with them when they visit the bars and restaurants to have them stamped.
Those participating are: Gastrobar De la Flor, Seiva Fusión, Restaurante Firmum, Mesón del Gusto, Restaurante El Cortijillo, Cervecería El Cortijillo, Salitre Playa, Rosa Negra, Casa Paco, Bodega Francisco I, El Templo, Hotel San Cristóbal, Mesón Mari y Miguel, Mesón Gala, New Gala PinBall, Restaurante Casa La Parra, Mesón Emiliano and Restaurante El Árbol Blanco
The price of the competing tapas + a beer, house wine or soft drink will be 3.50 euros.
As for prizes for the winner and runners up, the best tapa will receive 1,000 euros, 300 and 100 euros, respectively. Besides the cash, the winner will be able to participate free-of-charge in the coming Feria Gastronómica with publicity included.
As for the customers who hand in their passports, they will enter into a raffle and have 30 days after the draw to pick their prize up, once the raffle winners are announced.
