Ports Comes in from The Cold

MOT New Port EntranceThe Motril-Melilla  sea route has finally been “declared of public interest” after being passed over for grants on several occasions unlike its competitors.

Even though the shortest and cheapest ferry-route out of Melilla on the North-African coast is the one that connects with Motril port, successive Central-Government administrations have given unfair advantages to Málaga and Almería Ports.

In fact, for Motril, it is not so much that it wants the same financial benefits provided by Madrid to the other two Andalusian ports, but rather that there be a level playing field; i.e., they all receive help or none of them do.

Socialist bigwig, Sr. Entrena, congratulated his leader, PM Pedro Sánchez, for this “new push” for the province in the form of this grant for the port, the new Granada bypass (which opened yesterday) and the the green-light, environmental-impact study for the distribution network from Rules Dam down to the coast.
