Talking of the Granada-city bypass, a tailback several kilometres in length was caused by a small dog loose on the northbound lanes.
Now, contrary to the legend that the Spanish are incurably cruel to animals, nobody wanted to run the bloody thing over, despite the mounting frustration caused by the capering mutt. I would have shot the damned critter and had it as a bonnet adornment… just joking!
Anyway, two people on a bike tried to herd it to the hard shoulder whilst two lines of traffic waited patiently (sort of). Had there been somebody in one of the cars entertaining the idea adopting a puppy for Christmas, they almost certainly mentally erased the it.
Finally, another biker pulled up, got off his bike and picked it up, carried it to a barrier and put it down off the autovía
All this happened around 15.00h (rush hour) near the Méndez Núñez junction heading in the Jaén direction.
The next happening involved a cat on the A-44 junction for Ogíjares-Armilla and ended up with the good Samaritan who had stopped to save it having her car stolen. She had just turned off the junction and saw a man trying to stop a kitten running down the ramp onto the autovía. It was Sunday around 12.25h.
She immediately stopped the car on the hard shoulder of the exit ramp and jumped out to help, leaving the keys in the ignition and her handbag inside – it should have been safe as there were not pedestrians there. Just then a Fiat car pulled up and the passenger jumped out and into her Volkswagen Polo and drove off with it. She was left with a kitten and no car.
In the car she had her mobile, cash, a lottery ticket, her coat, car docs, sunglasses, credit cards…and faith in Mankind, so she was not a happy bunny.

Lynne: Does that include “ol sea dogs”? Ex-RN Dave Toms an Dave Darby will be pleased 😉 Just joking, of course, and yes, I agree.
There is a special place in heaven for people who help old people, kids and animals. _^..^_
