A socialist councillor belonging to the Güéjar Sierra Town Council, María Encarnación Álvarez, allegedly broke quarantine several times after testing positive.
This accusation was levelled by the conservative General Secretary of the PP: “We have been made aware that she broke quarantine on a daily basis in order to go to a house of a person requiring home care, ” said the PP representative, Ana Vanessa García.
Sra. Garcia considers the socialist’s behaviour to be “totally irresponsible” and that her actions had upset many people in Güéjar Sierra. In fact, Sra.García did not skimp on qualitive adjectives to describe Sra. Álvarez’s actions, going so far as to describe them as “frivolous and lacking health & moral ethics.”
“If we who make the rules don’t respect them, then how can we expect our residents to do so,” she asked.
The Town Council were informed of the socialist councillor’s medical condition on Thursday the 19th of November. The Mayor, José A. Robles, offered his support and help in anything that she might need, which she declined, according to Sra Garcia, but instead set about putting not only her own health at risk but that of somebody who is considered particularly vulnerable and requiring care, as well as social workers who are providing home support for this person.
For all of the above reasons, the PP councillor calls upon the PSOE councillor to resign.
Editorial note: The Gazette does not have Sra.Álvarez’s version of the events, unfortunately, to include in her defence. There is nothing on the PSOE Güéjar Sierra webpage or their facebook account.
