Around 400 autónomos, mainly from the hostelry sector, protested outside Almuñécar Town Hall yesterday, as well as in La Herradura.

They were there, in the Plaza de la Constitución as well as the Plaza de la Independencia (La Herradura), to demand help because of the attrition caused by the pandemic on their businesses.

The protest, which had been organised via social media, hardly lasted half an hour but it will have made an impression on the Mayor, even though she wouldn’t have been in her office on a Sunday. Over in La Herradura, the gathering numbered just under a hundred.

In both protests the demonstrators were careful to maintain social distances. They also observed a minute’s silence for the victims of Covid-19.

The Policía Local kept control in the Town-Hall Square and prevented vehicles from entering.
