ITV Appointments

estacion-itvIf you have been following the online Gazette, you will have seen that unlike the original Lockdown, the ITV testing centres have remained open.

However, this does not mean that getting an appointment will be easy, as they are still working their way through the backlog from the first time round.

When your appointment comes up, make sure that you have a copy of the appointment either printed out or on your mobile. The company that runs these testing centres sends you an SMS to your mobile to confirm that your appointment has been accepted, so you will have it on your phone.

You cannot go accompanied nor pop in for a spot of shopping at Al Campo in Motril if that is the ITV you’re going to.

We mention Al Campo because there is only one on the coast, whereas there is a Mercadona in most towns, so if you get caught with Al Campo products in your boot… you’ve bought it in Motril!

Thank you, Martin, for your advice – I’ll check out the options.

Stella: OK, if your ITV has not run out yet, phone your mechanic in Almuñécar to come and pick it up and take it to the ITV centre. It will cost you a bit more but it will save you a lot of hassle. If the ITV has already run out, he will have to trailer it, using his own, if he has one, or a breakdown service if not. That’s more expensive, obviously, than his just having to get somebody to drop him off in Jete to pick your car up.

    I live in Jete.

    where do you live, Stella?

I have an ITV appointment but need to get my car serviced a few days before it and usually use a garage in Almunecar, which I am currently not allowed to travel to. As I am not taking the car to the ITV myself I would like to pay the fee beforehand but appear only to be able to do that at Unicaja bank, again in Almunecar. I could ask the friend doing the ITV for me if they would mind paying the fee on the day and then re-imburse them, but I would appreciate your advice as to whether I would be allowed to go to the garage and/or the bank. Thanks.

Nick: I used to live in a cortijo up above Otivar during the last shutdown and all my shopping was done in the Otivar local shop. Mólvizar has at least two I believe.

However, the regulations say that if there is an essential item that you cannot obtain at your local, corner shop, then you can go to an adjacent township to purchase it. Bear in mind that these village shop have everything from loaves of bread to small thermal nuclear devices for robust farmers.

And when they say “adjacent” they mean one that physically borders of your village municipal boundaries, so Motril is out of the question.

In short, it’s up to you because if you are stopped and the purchases you have made can have equally been bought in your local self-service shop, you could get into trouble

I am living in the the campo of Molvizar, there is no big supermarket. May I visit the Mercadona or Lidl in Salobrena. Thanks.
