A 26-year-old man was arrested in Almuñécar after allegedly stealing a woman’s bankcards and using them fraudulently.

A Guardia Civil investigation found that the suspected pickpocket removed a wallet from the victim’s handbag whilst she was walking around the Friday, street market on the 9th of October.

The victim was not aware that she had lost her wallet until the next day, by which time the thief had already used the bankcard to the tune of 127 euros in seven different purchases below 20 euros so that the PIN would not be needed.

The police had gone round to each of the establishments where the card was used to inspect CCTV footage and found that in each case a known local criminal was involved. From there, they soon located  him and made the arrest.
