One of the pleasant strolls along the coast of Nerja was the Paseo de Los Carbineros, which runs under the cliffs between el Balcon and Playa Burriana. It was inaugurated in the mid 90s

However, owing to rock falls some 18 years ago, it was closed off to the public and that is how it has remained since then.

Now the Town Hall put up a contract to bid to restore the first part of the paseo starting on Playa de Calahonda. The company that won the contract was Actúa Infraestructuras S. L. with a budget of 279,968 euros, who, according to the Councillor for Urban Development and Dwellings, met all the necessary conditions within the contract terms.

The project itself was drawn up by ICS Ingenieros Consultores del Sur, S.L.P., and approved by the Town Council on the on the 1st of June, financing it with funds from the Provincial Council.

The paseo project, which has the necessary approval from Costas, could soon see Phase Two coming into being as the Provincial Council has pledged funding for it.
