Another person had to be flown out of the Junta de Los Río above the village of Otívar this weekend, after suffering an accident.
The victim suffered an open fracture to his humerus (arm bone between the shoulder and elbow) whilst descending he series of waterfalls along this very popular stretch of the river.
It was his excursion companion who contacted the 112 number at 13.00h yesterday to report the accident and request assistance.
The Guardia Civil mountain rescue team (Servicio de Rescate e Intervención en Montaña or Sereim), despatched a helicopter to extract the victim from this narrow ravine and fly him to the main hospital in Granada, Parque Tecnológico de la Salud.
