Motril Fire Station Enlarged

MOT Fire StationThe fire personnel in Motril will be happy bunnies as their present installations on the port road will be increased in size to meet the demands of these times.

Over the decades the town has grown but the fire station has not since it was built back in the 90s. There are housing estates where there were just field before back then.

Although the Town Council has increased the number of fire personnel, there is a limit to how many they can squeeze into the fire station.

The plans are to virtually double the size of the present fire station by building an extension behind it. The aim is to begin work by the end of the year and have it completed within 15 months.

The  extension will house an emergency command centre for the fire service and the different police forces based in the Motril.

As for the budget, we’re looking at 852,000 euros. The period that the job contract is open for bidding concludes this month so that the work can begin before the year is out.

The work will be carried out in two phases: First the extension on the west side of the building, which will take 12 months and which will be where the command centre will be housed, together with the connecting passage way. The second phase will be on toilets/bathrooms, dressing rooms and dormitories.
