Almuñécar Town Hall activated the Covid protocol after a case was detected in the Centro Infantil La Carrera today.
The child in question, who is in a class of 15 other small children, has not attended the play school since the 28th of last month. On that day the mother had taken the child to the medical centre with symptoms of a temperature and diarrhoea, The paediatrician carried out a PCR, which came back as positive today.
“We got in contact with the Head of the play school, with the company El Saliente and the Councillor for the Environment so that the protocol can be put in place and followed, explained the Councillor María del Carmen Reinoso.
Councillor Reinoso said that the monitor and the rest of the pupils will be put into quarantine, adding that they had followed up on all the close contacts with the play school
In the meantime the Councillor for the Environment has used the Sanisur for the complete disinfection of the premises so that children belonging to other groups (classes) can get back to routine at the centre.
Over in La Herradura, Colegio Público Las Gaviotas has reported a positive case, “this pupil remained at home on Monday and has not gone to school since. His classmates have been confined at home for ten days. Tests are being carried out and soon we will have the results,” explained the Head Teacher.
Lastly, a pupil at IES Al Andalus in Almuñécar also tested positive and hasn’t attended school since Monday, either, which was when they got the test results back.
The Mayor is calling for calm and responsibility from schools and for them to increase precautions, reminding them if somebody starts getting Covid-like symptoms they should remain in isolation until test results give the all clear.
