The Mayor of Granada was tested and gave a positive reading, together with another member of his cabinet, but that’s not his only problem.
Mayor Luis Salvador, who had suspected that he might be infected, carried on with his official agenda, the opposition claim, before taking a test yesterday afternoon, after which he went into quarantine.
The socialist opposition councillor, Raquel Ruz, assured that they already harboured suspicions that the Mayor could be infected yet despite this possibility he maintained his round of official meetings until he received the results.
“The problem is not that he gave a positive reading – we all run that risk – but rather his behaviour in these last few days,” said Sra. Ruz, explaining that he went about business as usual, even holding a Plenary Meeting of the City Council last Friday, as well as many other public acts over the weekend.
Yet criticism is also raining down from the opposite side of the political aisle because the Spokesman for the far-right party, Vox is not a happy bunny either.
Spokesman Onofre Miralles also criticises the Mayor for maintaining his normal agenda over the weekend, even more so when one of the Mayor’s closest collaborators chose to stay at home after noting the same symptoms
Sr. Miralles said that the first person within the Mayor’s circle to test positive was during the weekend, yet the Mayor went on with business as normal throughout the following Monday morning. In fact, Sr. Miralles claims he went round to the City Hall Monday morning to see if the Mayor’s collaborator was there and was surprised to see the Mayor, himself, in his office.
