The official figures up to the 7th of September, issued by the Junta de Andalucía indicated that cases on the Costa Tropical have increased since the 2nd from 14 to 23.
Whereas in the early days of the pandemic it was Motril that had the most cases of contagion, Almuñécar has since taken the lead. It should be noted that whereas Motril has close to 60,000 inhabitants, Almuñécar has fewer than 50% of that figure.
As mentioned in a recent article, the fish-restaurant, Lute & Jesus on Avenida de Europa, closed its doors after three members of its staff gave positive readings last week but according to opposition party, Convergencia Andaluza de Almuñécar-La Herradura, several businesses had had to close their door last weekend owing to positive readings, yet the health authorities have not reflected this data.
And then there is the social media (Facebook) where posts are making the rounds claiming that three businesses in La Herradura have also had to close their doors.
There has been no press releases from the Junta or any other authority to confirm the claim by the CA or the rumour on facebook about the businesses in La Herradura closing.
