There has been a hill fire which broke out this morning in Motril, not far above the Fábrica del Pilar. Most of the affected vegetation was dry grass and brush. The fire services accessed the area via the SUS-MOT-10.

The fire started at approximately 10.30h and required four vehicles belonging to the Motril fire service, as well as three fire trucks from Infoca. Also involved were two helicopters, both personnel transport with under slung water bag.

At first one helicopter was carrying out the water-bombing circuits starting around 11.50h before being joined by a second helicopter.

The fire personnel and aircraft were concentrating on a lower line of flames, which were nearing a cortijo were horses are kept. On the northern side the flames were heading towards a large green house.

One of the Motril fire trucks took on water using a fire hydrant next to Café Paris, whilst the Policía Local restricted traffic to the area at the junction where the Avenida de la Marquesa de Esquilache meets the Ronda de Poniente.
