The lane that connects La Guardia with La Caleta in Salobreña had to be closed to traffic yesterday morning after a mains water-pipe burst.
Despite a huge amount of water escaping, Aguas y Servicios expected to get it back in 48 hours, more or less. However, the road will remain closed probably until Monday.
The breakage occurred around eight Friday morning where the pipe that comes down from Monte de los Almendros meets up with a larger distribution pipe for the area.
Aguas y Servicios contacted the private entity to whom the pipe belongs in order to be able to fix it, which requires heavy machinery to replace a section of pipe.
The Councillor for Urbanismo y Obras, Ignacio Trujillo, (who is also the municipal representative for La Caleta-La Guardia) explained that the road closure will follow the lines of when that same lane was closed back in February; i.e., if you want to reach La Caleta, you have to do it from the N-340 Caleta junction, whereas if you wish to reach La Guardia, you should do it via the Cuesta Caracho or the TH1.
