There was a fire in the garage on Calle Perrone in Salobreña where the street-cleaning company parks its vehicles last Wednesday.
The fire was discovered around 16.00h by workers reporting in for the afternoon shift, explained the Councill for the the Environment, Angel Coello, adding that the roof as well as two vehicles were seriously damaged.
The workers called 112 for the fire service and Policía Local, as well as warning residents in adjoining buildings. Some didn’t need warning as they had already seen the smoke billowing out and heard a small explosion inside the compound.
The cause of the fire has not been made known although some workers commented that it could have been a short circuit in one of the vehicles.
