Fun dining in Motril on Friday night after a man burst into a restaurant with a machete, several replica fire arms and a hand grenade, ordering everybody out.
The 54-year-old man was subsequently arrested by the Policía Nacional but not without a struggle.
The incident took place on a side street next to the Plaza del Tranvía; that’s the square with a car park under it, just off the roundabout where the port road reaches the town centre.
Quite a lot of consternation was caused when he stomped into the restaurant because it was impossible to tell whether the replica pistols were real ones – the machete obviously was, which was enough for the waiters and diners to take him seriously.
However, the Policía National turned up before there was a stampede to get out so nobody was hurt.
