The Almuñécar Guardia Civil have arrested a well known, 43-year-old criminal in connection with a vehicle break-in.
The man allegedly broke into the car parked along Calle Mariana Pineda and ripped out the touch screen on the 8th of July.
The Guardia Civil received a call from a resident on the said street at around 05.00h on Wednesday to say that a person was acting suspiciously, hanging around parked cars.
The police arrived in moments and surprised the individual with a case in his hands, standing next to a car with a smashed side window – the case had been removed from the targeted car. Upon examining the car they found a large stone inside the car that had been used to smash the window.
The suspect resisted arrest but the police managed to place the cuffs on him and get him into the patrol car.
The Guardia Civil called for a recovery vehicle to tow the car away to the municipal car compound as it was vulnerable if left on the street. They also contacted the owner so that he could file a complaint against the suspect.
