In the early hours of last Saturday Motril Policía Local broke up a party in a cortijo in Los Tablones – neighbours had tipped them off.

When they arrived, it was to fine everybody there for breaking the confinement norms.

But it was a busy morning for the police because before the sun had risen they had also sneaked up on a group of youngsters holding a bottle party in a square in the centre of Motril.

In fact, before the weekend was out, 50-odd people in Motril had demonstrated why we’re still stuck in Stage Zero, or Phase Zero, if you prefer, including people from inland sneaking down to the beaches.
